At 10:00am on Monday morning 2/13/17, Mohegan FD and New York State Police were requested to Pump House Rd in the rear of the Cortlandt Nursing Care Center off Oregon Rd in Cortlandt for a tree down with wires. Upon arrival, a large tree was found down on the ground with live electric wires down, blocking the access roadway. Con Edison Electric was immediately requested on a priority rush due to the wires down blocking the access of EMStar ambulances parked on site at their Cortlandt base. Con Edison Electric arrived quickly due to the priority rush and removed the wires from the access road allowing the ambulances not to be blocked. Mohegan FD also assisted by cutting up a small portion of the large down tree so access could be gained on the driveway to the rear offices at this location. Mohegan FD Car 2264, Engine 256, and Rescue 32 assisted on this scene. Engine 252 was returned to service while enroute. All Mohegan FD cleared this scene by 11:10am. During this incident, Engine 253, Engine 258, and Ladder 35 handled an additional call on Sherman Ct in Mohegan Lake for an issue with an oil burner. This tree down was caused by very strong winds that were occurring across the region on this date.
