On Thursday afternoon 6/27/24 at approximately 5pm, Mohegan FD, Mohegan EMS, and Yorktown PD were dispatched to Cambridge Ct in the Jefferson Village complex for a vehicle that struck a building. Upon arrival, Mohegan FD found a vehicle that had struck the building causing significant structural damage and involved the electrical meters for 2 apartments. Mohegan FD immediately requested Con Edison Electric to the scene and the Town of Yorktown Building Dept, while Mohegan EMS treated the driver for injuries. There were no injuries to the occupant of the apartment. The injuries to the driver were minor and the mutual aid paramedic from Putnam County was cancelled. At the request of the Yorktown Building Dept, 2 struts were to be placed precautionary during the vehicle removal. Due to Rescue 32 being out of service, Yorktown FD was dispatched to the scene with struts. Upon the arrival of Yorktown FD, Mohegan FD and Yorktown FD worked jointly to set up 2 paratech struts for precaution in the bedroom that suffered significant damage until the vehicle was removed. Once Con Edison Electric removed the power to the building, the vehicle was removed without incident. The building was temporarily deemed uninhabitable until repairs can be made. The operator of the vehicle was transported by Mohegan EMS 68B2 to a local trauma center. Mohegan FD and Yorktown FD cleared the scene by 8:30pm.
