On Fri. 6/10/11 and Mon. 6/20/11, Mohegan's Firematic Officers began this year's bailout training at the Furnace Woods Station. Mohegan built this bailout tower at the Furnace Woods Station in 2010 and this would be the first time the tower would be used for bailout training. Under direction from Asst. Chief Cerrato and Lt. Gurdineer, the Firematic Officers re-qualified in this annual requirement and did this training first, so that the rest of the members can qualify in the upcoming weeks and months. Some changes have occurred with the new bailout requirements. A hasty harness using webbing is now required to be used as part of the backup belay line. Also, the backup belay line has a GriGri decender device attached to prevent any falls during training.
