At approximately 12pm today Wed 6/26/19, Mohegan FD and Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance Corps were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries with rollover and vehicle fire on the Taconic State Parkway southbound in the area of mile marker 18.9 (south of Rt 132/Old Yorktown Rd). Yorktown FD, Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and New York State Police were already enroute since this incident was reported in the area of mile marker 11.8 in their district. Mohegan FD Car 2263, 22610, DC40, Engine 252, Engine 255, and Rescue 32 responded and found a 2 car accident with 1 vehicle rolled over and fully involved in fire. Because of the incident was blocking the southbound lanes, apparatus responded northbound in the southbound lanes to access the scene. Two 1 3/4” hoselines were stretched and the fire, which also began burning the brush, was quickly knocked down. Firefighters also were tasked with extensive overhaul to fully extinguish the fire. Mohegan EMS 69B1 transported 2 patients to New ork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. Yorktown FD Car 2531, Engine 270, Engine 271, and 272 also assisted and returned to service after assisting on scene. All units cleared the scene by 1:30pm.
