HISTORY
The MVAC Youth Corps was officially constituted at the monthly meeting of the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance Corps on January 7, 2010. At this time we began recruiting for Youth Corps members at local area high schools.
The MVAC Youth Corps is an organization for high school students ages 14-18 that live in the Lake Mohegan Fire District, who wish to learn about Emergency Medical Services. The Youth Corps participates in First Aid Stand-bys at sporting events and community events. Some members may be eligible to be an attendant for 911 ambulance calls.
Members are asked to purchase a Youth Corps uniform to attend special functions. All training will be provided free of charge, training includes mandatory CPR, FIRST AID, and OSHA. Members who are 16 years old are encouraged to become New York State Certified First Responders. The Youth Corps meets on the first monday of the month at 7:00PM at the firehouse located at Rt. 6 and Lexington in Mohegan Lake.
  
REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP
Must be at least 14 and no more than 18 years old
Live in the Lake Mohegan Fire District
Have CPR, First Aid and MVAC OSHA training*
REQUIREMENTS FOR RIDING MEMBERSHIP
Must be at least 16 years old
Have valid CPR , First Aid, and MVAC OSHA Training*
Have VAC officer approval
Ride at EMT discretion as 4th crew member
*All training will be provided by the ambulance corps. No previous training is required to join.
DUTIES
Attend Youth Corps meeting (1st Monday of every month)
Participate in community events and standbys
Assist EMTs on 911 ambulance calls
Help with Ambulance Corps activities
March in Parades
