This evening Tuesday 3/10/20 approximately 5:30pm, Mohegan FD (volunteer and career) responded to a reported brush fire on the Taconic State Pkwy southbound at mile marker 18.5. While enroute, units were advised of numerous calls being received. Upon arrival, units found an approximately 50ft x 50ft active brush fire near the atv trail just off the highway. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire using 300ft of 1 3/4” hose from Engine 255 and overhauled the area to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished due to the extremely dry brush. Units on scene were Car 2261, 2262, 2266, 2267, 2269, 22610, Engine 254, Engine 255, Rescue 32, Utility 11, Utility 18, and Utility 80.
