On Saturday 5/8/21, Mohegan FD trained at our Station #3 (Furnace Woods Station) on our new Paratech Rescue Struts. We recently purchased these Paratech Rescue Struts and have been training our members in the full operation of this equipment in order to place it in service. The equipment is now mounted on Rescue 32 and in service. MES Fire instructor Ryan Handerhan (Captain with Troy, NY FD Special Operations) helped teach our members the full operation of this equipment. The training included stabilizing vehicles in various positions and also lifting vehicles by using the hydra fusion hand pump controls. We also quickly reviewed how these struts can also be utilized in shoring operations for trench rescue and structural collapses. This new equipment now replaces our decade old Res-Q-Jack stabilization equipment.
