Tonight Monday 8/30/21, Mohegan FD’s FAS-Team drilled at our Hollowbrook Station (LMFD Station #4) reviewing our FAS-Team equipment that is located on Engine 256. Our members also reviewed our on scene operations. Our FAST members reviewed and practiced hands-on training with all of our FAS-Team equipment. This equipment is our normal hand tools plus our RIT Pack, FAST Board, RIT Large Area Search Ropes, and Ropes and Pulleys/Rope Rescue Systems. Our FAS-Team has responded to structure fires in our neighboring departments twice this month. Due to the warm weather and humidity our members did not fully gear up. For those who aren’t familiar with what a FAS-Team (Firefighter Assist and Search Team) is, well it’s a team of specially trained firefighters that respond under the Mutual Aid Agreement to other Fire Depts. to standby at the scene of fires or other hazardous conditions for the purpose of rescuing trapped, injured, missing or disoriented firefighters.
