On Thurs morning 1/5/23 at approximately 2am, Mohegan FD was requested to respond with one ladder to the scene of a structure fire in the Hillcrest Park Condominium Complex on Woods End Circle in the City of Peekskill. Upon arrival, Mohegan FD Ladder 10 was directed to set up in front of Peekskill FD Engine 131. Mohegan Firefighters worked to attempt to assist with an interior attack but all firefighters were quickly ordered out of the building due to the heavy amount of fire. Ladder 10 set up its aerial master stream and also pulled a 2 1/2” hoseline with a blitz fire nozzle. Due to a loss in water pressure, Ladder 10 was to be fed by incoming tanker trucks. Mohegan FD Engine 258 was then request led and dispatched to set up a fill site location at the lat hydrant in the Town of Cortlandt on Oregon Rd. Engine 258 responded and refilled tankers from Croton on Hudson FD, Putnam Valley FD, Millwood FD, Croton Falls FD, Potantico Hills FD, Katonah FD, and Garrison FD. During the morning rush hour, the fill site location moved to Catherine St in our district and then eventually to Broad St/Orchard St in the City of Peekskill. Engine 258 filled all the tankers multiple times with a total of 100 refills. Our Fire-Police were
Also requested to shut down the Bear Mountain Pkwy westbound at Rt 6 due to fireground operations on the parkway itself. Our firefighters remained on scene assisting with extinguishment and fire found operations until approximately 10am. Engine 258 remained filling tankers until approximately 1pm. We would like to the Peekskill FD for allowing Ladder 10 to be refueled on scene during the fire. Other fire depts who assisted on scene were Continental Village FD, Buchanan FD, Montrose FD, and Montrose VA FD. Peekskill EMS , Cortlandt Peekskill Paramedics, Peekskill OEM, Peekskill PD, Westchester County Police, and Westchester County Dept of Emergency Services also assisted and New York State Police assisted at the fill site on Oregon Rd.
