We ask that if there is a fire hydrant near your residential or commercial property, please help us by clearing a 3 foot area around them! During a fire, valuable time is lost if we have to locate and then dig out a buried fire hydrant!

Here is the part that most don’t know about fire hydrants in the Town of Yorktown. According to Yorktown Town Code Section 216-7, it shall be the duty of the owner and occupant, jointly, of every parcel of real estate adjoining a fire hydrant to keep a two-foot-wide path around the fire hydrant free from snow and ice. If you cannot shovel out the hydrant. You must contact the Yorktown Water Dept at 914-245-6111. In Town of Cortlandt Government, we ask the same thing! Clear those hydrants!

2) Please clear your heating pipes and exaust vents. If these are blocked by snow and cannot vent properly, there is a high potential for Carbon Monoxide poisoning and readings in the building. Keep an open area of 2-3 feet clear around these pipes and vents for proper ventilation.
